FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MALAYSIA

INTRODUCTION

A Master Project is an individual research work conducted by a "Master by Taught Course" student as a part of the requirements for the award of Master degree for the following programmes:

  • Master of Science (Mechanical Engineering) - MEMM
  • Master of Science (Industrial Engineering) - MEMI

It is a systematic and an appropriate individual training to conduct an original research or to further investigate an existing work. A Master Project consists of a range of analytical and research skills which are generally transferable lifetime skills of value now and in subsequent careers.

The goal of this programme is to improve the skill and knowledge of engineers in various aspects of mechanical engineering and their applications, so that they will be more capable to handle their jobs and responsibility professionally.

MOTIVATION OF A MASTER PROJECT

A Master Project provides an opportunity to pursue detailed, innovative study and application of knowledge in areas of particular interest or concern. It is designed to increase one’s understanding, skill and expertise through process of undertaking original research, developing ideas, individual problem solving and reaching new conclusions.
For a successful completion of a Master Project, it is important that prospective students recognize the commitments and responsibilities they are entering into. In return, the University seeks to ensure that prospective students receive full guidance, information and advice from their Departments or Faculty or from central services before they commence their Master project, especially regarding the nature of the research.
