HOW TO START A MASTER PROJECT
Students can choose a supervisor based on their own criteria. The list of panel members and the research focus for each panel are stated here. Students can also perform searches using various keywords through the Mechypedia portal. Once a suitable supervisor aligned with the student's interests is identified, the student can contact the supervisor to obtain approval. The research topic can be discussed with the supervisor. It is up to the student to undertake a Master's project based on a topic suggested by the supervisor or a topic independently proposed by the student.
After finalizing a suitable Master's project topic, students are required to register a user account on the Markssubmission portal. Here, students must register their chosen Master's project topic.
The title registered on the Markssubmission portal will be reviewed by the panel leader to ensure it is suitable and meets the quality standards for a Master's project. Once approved by the panel leader, the student will receive an email notification confirming the approval of their Master's project title.
Students may begin their Master's project under the supervision of their chosen supervisor. Students are required to maintain a brief logbook within the Markssubmission portal. The detailed progress report requirements will be determined by the supervisor. A video on how to conduct an effective literature review is available on this webpage, and students are highly encouraged to watch it.
Students are advised to regularly visit this website to stay updated on the progress and requirements of the Master's project at FKM. The assessment rubric and seminar dates for the Master's project are provided on this webpage.
Students must submit a draft (for MP1 and MP2 students) and a technical paper (for MP2 students only) by the specified deadline. Please refer here for details.
Students are required to attend the Master's project seminar presentation. Failure to attend the seminar may result in marks not being awarded to the student. Please refer here for details.
After receiving feedback from the Master's project seminar evaluation and comments from the supervisor, MP2 students are required to revise their Master's project report and upload it to the Markssubmission portal along with the Turnitin proof. Students are required to submit a complete Master's project report following the UTM thesis format, including a front and back cover, fully signed by the supervisor.
The Master's project report will be reviewed by the academic office staff. Once approved, students will be notified via email and specific social media platforms.
